Dr. Douwe Vellema is the anchor physician of the collaboration between Aevitas and Fembryo in George. He obtained his MBBCh at the University of the Witwatersrand and completed his internship at Raheema Moosa Mother and Child Hospital in Johannesburg, where Professor Justus Hofmeyer inspired him to pursue obstetrics and gynaecology.

He further developed his skills in urogynaecological and oncology surgery under Prof. Hennie Cronje, and in endoscopic endometriosis and infertility surgery under Prof. Paul Wessels. He later spent three years in Canada to earn his Canadian qualification before returning to South Africa to establish a private practice in George.
